NUNSENSE

Show synopsis:

Nunsense is a hilarious spoof about the misadventures of five nuns trying to manage a fundraiser. Sadly, the rest of the sisterhood died from botulism after eating vichyssoise prepared by Sister Julia Child of God. Thus, the remaining nuns – ballet-loving Sister Leo, street-wise Sister Robert Anne, befuddled Sister Mary Amnesia, the Mother Superior Sister Regina, and mistress of the novices Sister Mary Hubert – stage a talent show in order to raise the money to bury their dearly departed. With catchy songs and cheeky comedy, Nunsense is sure to keep audiences rolling with laughter.

Audition and show information:

Rehearsals will begin on July 17th. The rehearsal schedule will be provided in advance of the first rehearsal based on performer availability.

The production runs August 25th – September 17th, with performances Thursday – Saturday at 8pm and Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. No conflicts with performance dates will be permitted.

All performers are guaranteed a $100 honorarium to cover the costs of transportation for rehearsals plus a $15 honorarium per performance. Note that this is strictly a non-union production.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, July 1st from 2-5pm and Monday, July 3rd from 4-7pm. Please prepare a 1-2 minute uptempo musical theatre selection. Piano accompaniment will not be provided so actors should use a non-vocal instrumental track (CD or audio link).

SISTER MARY REGINA (Reverend Mother/Mother Superior): Female, (Range: B3-F5)
A feisty-spirit whose bark is worse than her bite and eventually can’t resist the spotlight.

SISTER MARY HUBERT (Mistress of Novices): Female, (Range: G3-F5)
The second in command, she is always competing with the Mother Superior.

SISTER ROBERT ANNE: Female, (Range: G3-D5)
A streetwise character from Brooklyn. A constant source of aggravation for the Mother Superior.

SISTER MARY AMNESIA: Female, (Range: Db4-C6)
This nun lost her memory after a crucifix fell on her head. She is very sweet.

SISTER MARY LEO: Female, (Range: G#3-G5)
The novice, who has entered the convent with the firm desire to become the first nun ballerina.
